Edith Weston remembers Edith

Created by Edith 7 years ago
To Erica, Andrew and Hazel and all your families. So sorry to hear about my old friend Edith having passed away.
I first met Edith in 1969 at St John's Wives' Club when we were both relatively new members. I recall how we had a collision of prams around the side of the church hall and how within minutes of the altercation, she and I were sharing a cuppa and a jammy dodger watching Andrew and Paula play.
She was soon volunteering for washing up duty and co-opted Mima Pincott and I to help!
I would often bump into Edith (and pram!) whilst shopping in Whitley, particularly as she and I were regular frequenters of Matherson's garden shop with both of us having green fingers.
I moved from Whitley Bay in the early 70's after my husband Colin got a transfer down to Rutlandshire but was always happy to exchange Christmas cards and news, even though we never got to meet up again. Unfortunately she and I both lost our respective husbands within a matter of months of each other and I know Edith's Parkinson's made it difficult to write.
My best wishes to you all at this sad time and I'm sure Edith has already sorted them out up there with the washing up!
