a tribute from John and Jean

My (John) memories of Edith go back a long way to when I was a small boy at the New Church in Camberwell, south London. She was then Edith Peckham along with sister Margaret and mum and dad Elsie and Harry. The society always visited the large Peckham house once a year to play whist and beetle and have tea as a money raising event. I remember Peter visiting from Cambridge Uni. and the jokes and noise level always went up when he was around.

Then they moved north and our meeting place used to be at holiday centres were they were often host and hostess. I then took over organising the holiday centres and had more contact with them.

Jean of course used to see more of them with living in Middleton and them in Heywood. We pass regularly where the house used to be before the M62 took it over. Then they used to run weekends at Kildwick which Jean attended.

I can remember staying at Kingston Drive for 3/4 days with them whilst visiting possible places for the holiday centre and they always made me and anyone visiting very welcome.
